Month of May

After vacationing at the beginning of May, I have been playing catchup. I look through the exercises and do them usually in one or two days. After that I try to remember the ? to which I was supposed to respond. I think I've missed a few spots and will try to fill in the blanks. Still stuck on adding a video feed or a podcast. I found such a great one too!
I have been very excited to discover the depth and breadth of the computer world out there. I can see it is getting easier to tie into the resources and utilize the technology and information swarming around us. I get frustrated because I know I've done something before and I sould be able to figure it out a 2nd time. Because I don't use it often I tend to forget the steps to reach it again. I think making cheat cards would have been smart but time doesn't always allow for that.
It has been a kick to surprise my kids about the things I've learned. Most of the time they say I've heard about that...what is it? Mom is never too old to learn and share information and technology! I can see how persistence pays off and I will not hesitate to try more new Web 2.0 things as they appear. I would definately do this again...even w/o a reward at the end. Learning is fun.
I think learning together in the classroom would be helpful since there are fewer interruptions and a person available to help right away. Sometimes there was no one on sight to help out when I needed it and I would have to put off the exercise. Usually I would have to begin at the beginning and reteach myself what I was doing and then run out of time. Even with the frustrations of time constraints and the struggles to figure out what to do Its been worth it to me.
Continue to teach us as things happen out there in cyberspace.

Podcasts
If a patron has a special interest such as military planes. It would be easy to hook them up military library found in a podcast search. It would be useful to instruct patrons on various aspects of the library such as learning to search opac catalog. Some people learn verbally better than reading directions.

I have no ideas about new things. My head is still reeling from all the info to which I've been exposed. Brin it on for further education!
